Read the initial spectrum decisions by Cabinet here http://www.rsm.govt.nz/cms/policy-and-planning/current-projects/digital-futures-planning-for-digital-television-and-new-uses/ and the press release from Hon Steven Joyce, Minister for Communications and Information Technology dated 21/12/09 here http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PA0912/S00350.htm
This confirms that the spectrum between 502 MHz and 694 MHz is to be allocated for digital television use and the spectrum between 694 MHz and 802 MHz be allocated for new uses.
No date for Digital Switch Over has been set and "There are also consequential changes necessary for radio microphone use which will now be planned in conjunction with other planning work"
Don't think the fight for spectrum is finished as the next step is to make sure the Government understands the consequences. See WUNZ website for further instructions. Make a contribution. Don't risk your future. Act now.

Concurrently, thanks to the efforts of Wireless Users NZ, the amount of spectrum we can use legitmately has increased. Radio Spectrum Management has revised the General User Spectrum Licence http://www.rsm.govt.nz/cms/resource-library/gazette-notices/general-user-licences/ and now permits radio microphone usage between 518 MHz to 582 MHz, subject to certain power power requirements. We understand in the near future similar licences may permit radio microphone usage between 502 MHz and 518 MHz and 614 Mhz and 646 MHz. Note these licences currently only run until March 2010 when the outcome of the DSO process will be known.
